All of this time we have talked about what to eat and what not to eat. Though, that is only part of the solution to a good diet. There is something that we also need to talk about. What we haven't talked about is eating habits. Keep in mind that when eat and when (or for how long you don't)you don't eat are a very important component in your diet. In other words, your eating habit. Why is this so important? Primarily because when you are dieting you are changing the way you eat and you don't want to get into an unhealthy eating habit of starving yourself then binge eating. Does this sound like you? You skip breakfast because you are running late for work. You have a bunch of work that has been piling up, so you skip lunch. Instead you have a cup of coffee and some snack crackers. You go home and you eat enough for three meals. You are so hungry you could eat a live pig. You eat so much that you don't think you will be able to walk for a week. You go watch some television and you fall asleep while watching it. Is effectively eating your three meals a day crammed into one the same thing? Not hardly. It's simple. Your body cannot handle eating all of that food at one time. It is trying to tell you that by making you sleepy. By consuming all of your meals in just one sitting, your body has to call upon all the energy it can from your body just to do the digestion. You are quite simply overloading your body's capacity and balance. As a result, you will end up eating all kinds of foods that aren't good for you or your diet. And more often than not, if you are away from home, you'll grab some fast food or other type of food that is high in fat. This unhealthy eating habit occurs because you have driven your body to the point that it must have some type of nourishment and this is not good for you from a health stand point or a diet stand point. Smaller meals more often is by far a healthier habit and better strategy for you. In fact, it is even a good idea to have a small snack between your smaller meals (provided you take the time to make sure it is a healthy snack). The idea is that with your eating habits and your diet that you keep your body at a consistent level of nourishment and energy level while avoiding the sling shot effects of starving and then binge eating at the other end. Again, the key to having a snack between your meals if it is a healthy snack. Remember, foods that are high in fat will actually only have you feeling more drained and will actually stimulate your appetite for more. If you are having problems eating three meals a day, you really need to work on your diet. This is because you don't want to binge eat. Binge eating will only hurt you in the long run. Don't believe me? Look at it like this. You know what will happen if you don't eat all day long. You will get hungry and you will get the shakes. If you start to get the shakes you will go for whatever that you can to make it stop.
